Early Morning: Pickup from Diani Beach
Your Wasini Island excursion begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel, resort or residence in Diani Beach or the surrounding South Coast. Travel south towards Shimoni, the mainland departure point for the marine excursion. Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park is approximately 90 km from Mombasa and lies about 11 km offshore from the Kenyan Coast at Shimoni. Your driver-guide will assist with the transfer and coordinate your arrival at the boat departure point.
Boat Ride from Shimoni
Board your traditional coastal boat and begin your journey towards the protected marine waters. Enjoy the sea breeze and beautiful views of the coastline as you cruise towards the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park. The park consists of coral islands and surrounding marine habitats supporting diverse fish, coral and other marine species.
Dolphin Watching
One of the most exciting parts of the excursion is searching for wild dolphins in the waters around Kisite and Shimoni. Keep your camera ready as your boat moves through the designated viewing areas. Dolphin sightings are wildlife encounters and cannot be guaranteed, but the marine excursion offers an excellent opportunity to look for them in their natural environment.
Snorkeling at Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park
Continue to one of the area's beautiful snorkeling locations. Put on your snorkeling equipment and enter the clear tropical waters to explore the underwater world. Depending on sea conditions and the selected snorkeling location, you may see:
Colorful reef fish, Coral formations, Sea turtles, Rays, Starfish, Octopus, Sea urchins and Other marine life
Swimming & Relaxation
After snorkeling, enjoy time swimming or relaxing in the clear Indian Ocean waters. The exact snorkeling and swimming locations depend on tides, currents, weather and sea conditions, with your boat crew selecting appropriate areas for the day's excursion.
Wasini Island
Continue to Wasini Island, a peaceful coastal island with a distinctive Swahili character and beautiful coral landscapes. Wasini is different from the mainland and provides an opportunity to experience local coastal culture and scenery. Depending on your selected package, you can visit the Wasini Women’s Boardwalk, where visitors can explore the area's petrified coral gardens and mangrove environment.

Enjoy a freshly prepared Swahili seafood lunch on Wasini Island. A typical seafood lunch may include dishes such as:

Afternoon: Return to Shimoni

Meet your Timken Tours Kenya driver and begin the road transfer back to Diani Beach. Arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon or early evening.
