Kenya is one of Africa's most diverse travel destinations. A single holiday can combine wildlife safaris, mountain scenery, cultural experiences, coastal relaxation and exciting outdoor activities.

The Maasai Mara is one of Kenya's most famous safari destinations, renowned for its abundant wildlife, open grasslands and big-cat sightings.

Amboseli is famous for its large elephant populations and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro across the border in Tanzania.

Tsavo East is one of Kenya's largest protected wilderness areas and is an excellent choice for travellers looking for a classic safari experience from the Kenyan Coast.

Tsavo West offers a different landscape from Tsavo East, with volcanic scenery, hills, springs, lava flows and diverse wildlife habitats.

Ol Pejeta is located in Kenya's Laikipia region and is known for wildlife conservation and diverse safari experiences.

Diani Beach is one of Kenya's most popular coastal destinations and an excellent place to relax before or after a safari.

Visitors can explore the historic Old Town, Fort Jesus, local markets, beaches and nearby marine destinations.

Lake Nakuru is located in Kenya's Rift Valley and is known for its wildlife, birdlife and scenic landscapes. The park is a popular stop between Nairobi and the Masai Mara.
Kenya can be visited throughout the year, but the best travel period depends on what you want to experience.
January to March
Generally a good period for safari and wildlife viewing, with warm conditions in many parts of the country.
April to May
This period can bring heavier rainfall. Some safari areas may experience wetter road conditions, but the season can also offer quieter travel and lush landscapes.
June to October
This is a popular safari period, with generally drier conditions and excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing. The Maasai Mara can also experience migration activity during this broader period, but exact timing varies from year to year.
November to December
The short-rains period can bring greener landscapes and good wildlife opportunities, although rainfall patterns vary.
Important: There is no single “best” month for every traveller. Your ideal travel period depends on wildlife interests, budget, beach plans, weather preferences and the destinations you want to visit.

Kenya can be explored by road, domestic flights and train services. Road safaris provide flexibility and allow travellers to experience Kenya's landscapes between destinations. Domestic flights can significantly reduce travel time between Nairobi, the Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Samburu, Tsavo and coastal destinations. Train Travel - The Madaraka Express connects Nairobi and Mombasa and can be incorporated into some Kenya travel itineraries.
International travellers should check Kenya’s current entry requirements before travelling.
Kenya currently operates an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) system for most foreign visitors. The official government eTA website states that travellers generally need an approved eTA before travelling to Kenya. Requirements include a passport valid for at least six months after the planned arrival date, with at least one blank page, as well as travel and accommodation information.
The official eTA website should always be checked before travel because eligibility and requirements can change.
Wildlife safaris are conducted in natural environments. Always follow the instructions of your safari guide and accommodation staff.
