So, we’ll be up early to track that wildlife over hills and savannahs, looking for the big predators but also some of the other 90 species of mammals filling this exciting ecosystem.
The reserve is also home to the Great Migration (July – October), when hordes of gazelle, wildebeest and zebra by the tens of thousands cross over the Mara River into the park on their yearly quest for taller, fresher grasses on which to feed.
We’ll take a picnic lunch at the Mara River, within sight of hippos and crocodiles, and if during the migration season, splendid views of the invading herds crossing into the park, in a sight unmatched anywhere.
Here are some optional activities to enhance your stay at the Mara: Enjoy a visit with the local Maasai people in their nearby village, see their homes, learn about their culture, and perhaps purchase some of their colourful jewelry.
We also offer a pre-dawn hot air balloon safari over the park. This is a not-to-be-missed moment on your tour – imagine viewing the Mara come alive with the new day as the wildlife emerges onto the savannah. Your driver/guide can make all the arrangements.
